Memorial Day in the Public Garden

Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day yesterday and had wonderful weather like we did here in Boston! Yesterday, James, Emmett and I met James' brother, Shawn and his wife, Sara (and fetal Baby K) for a picnic in Boston's Public Garden. It was a pretty warm day, but we got a nice shady spot under a tree and ate yummy shrimp cocktail, crackers and sandwiches, played some frisbee and enjoyed the beautiful day off.

My First Mother's Day

Posted by Pamela Vaughan

Yup - it was my very first Mother's Day last Sunday. Pretty cool. James served me breakfast in bed, and then the three of us headed to James' brother, Shawn's place in Carlisle for a barbecue with him, his wife Sara and James' parents.

There were actually three mothers in attendance. That's right! I realized I never officially announced that James' sister-in-law, Sara is pregnant with a baby Klingener! Now Emmett will have not one, but two male cousins also born in 2009. Sara is due in September, and we all can't wait to meet Baby K!

I'm not going to lie, it was a little weird to be on the receiving end of Mother's Day this year, but it's something I can definitely get used to. And I'm really looking forward to future Mother's Days when Emmett will actually understand what's going on.

Emmett Rocks Tummy Time & Meets the Fam

As I mentioned yesterday, Emmett met a lot of his extended family members last week in Pennsylvania. He also did a little bit of dancing (in his brand new Converse sneakers, just like dad's!) ...

We even learned that Em has an alien in his chest. The alien emerges whenever Emmett has the hiccups ...

Finally, Emmett showed off to the family by performing his best session of tummy time yet!

I think it's safe to say the little guy made a pretty good first impression :)

It's official - as far as the medical people can tell, Adrienne and Mac's little Nutter butter is apparently blue-flavored. It looks like Team Gus (as opposed to Team Fiona) is the victor. Emmett's very first cousin is going to make a great little playmate at family events. I'm pretty sure if Em were old enough to understand that there was going to be another little boy his age in the family, he'd be thrilled.

its-a-gus1Congrats, Mac and A! We can't wait to meet him!
